Network of Decolonial Feminisms

The Red de Feminismos Descoloniales (Network of Decolonial Feminisms) was founded in 2008, in response to Sylvia Marcos’ call to create a space for reflection and political activism that is rooted in the self-criticism of racism and colonialism that marks Latin American societies, including our feminist organizations. It is a diverse, intergenerational group, which brings together different disciplines and geographic locations, which shares the interest in thinking about other feminisms, and which recognizes as a strong reference the Zapatista proposal of “another world is possible.”

Currently, the Network is made up of Sylvia Marcos, Margara Millán, Raquel Guitiérrez, Gisela Espinoza, Giomar Rovira, Mariana Mora, Oscar González, Verónica López Nájera, Meztli Rodríguez, Mariana Favela, Ana Valadez and Rosalva Aida Hernández. Each of the members of the Network participates in different spaces of activism and discussion in which feminist reflections and struggles are articulated with topics such as cultural and legal plurality, criticism of modernity, the ecology of knowledge, decolonial epistemic criticism, the critique of heteronormativity, the critique of the philosophy of science. Mesoamerican and Amerindian worldviews, as well as peasant and popular struggles, have been an inspiration for this feminist activisms.

Beyond Feminism

Feeling and thinking gender: perspectives from native peoples

sentipensar

This book brings together the reflections and research experiences of members of the Interdisciplinary Network of Researchers of the Indian Peoples of Mexico, Civil Association (Red-IINPIM, A.C.) and the Network of Decolonial Feminisms.

The Red-IINPIM, A.C., is made up of Mexican indigenous researchers in order to look for alternatives so that the knowledge that was learned in the academy is now, the heritage of the peoples; and that in turn, these knowledge are used and put at the service of their communities. But they have also been organized in order to strengthen local knowledge and generate conditions for dialogue between knowledge.
